On March 1, 2015, the Root 54 Giving Circle honored KAMP once again this year with a $2000 grant. We are so proud to have been chosen by this amazing group of people dedicated to our community! Root 54’s name is a play off of the idea of always cultivating the connection to our heritage (our roots) while still moving forward into the future as if we were driving down the Filipino American Highway (Route 54). It is San Diego’s first giving circle under the direction of Asian Americans/Pacific Islanders in Philanthropy (AAPIP). Root 54 awarded KAMP as well as Kalusugan Community Services, COPAO’s CEPA NET, and the Emerging Leaders Institute at a small ceremony at Filipino Food and Bakery. It was humbling to be recognized alongside these amazing organizations and partners in the community. KAMP will use the money to continue building our program at our schools as well as further develop our recruitment, training, and orientation system for incoming mentors. Thank you Root 54 for helping us to grow!
P.S. Please feel free to check out our Root 54 grant application video, written and directed by our very own Kuya Sean Tangco and featuring our amazing volunteers. They all did an amazing job!
